I’m tired. Vacuumed the carpets and floor, cleaned bath tub, went through cleaning products and weeded out nearly empty
bottles pouring remaining contents in same brand/product with more in it, shredded paper, dusted. Still have more to do but what I did so far is a good start. In case you’re wondering, I have just gotten back to cleaning and tidying after being low on energy for a couple of months (S.A.D.). At the start of January I began a Vitamin D3 supplement and meditating more often. Consequently I have had some energy to clean. Things had gotten rather gross as you can imagine.
Each time I clean and tidy I notice myself feeling so much more relaxed afterward. I am not sitting in filth and clutter! It’s more in alignment with my ‘Zen-like’ living preferences. Of course I live with my dad who is a pack rat! So it’s hard to be too Zen around a pack rat! Still, it’s worth it because I also noticed my dad has more energy if the place is tidied and clean. Since he has an arthritic hip needing replacement I cut him some slack and do most of the housekeeping.
To think a lot of my behaviour has been influenced by my ‘word of the year‘ is pretty cool. My word is ‘action’ so of course I have been doing my best to stick to ‘my word’. Housekeeping has just been one aspect of that. Well I am tired and loosing my cognitive faculties so will stop here.

Good, no Great job you!!! Well done you should be very proud, feelings of accomplishment!!
Haha, thank you Benjamin!
go girl! and the come on over here…lol
Ahaha, I did some more today too. It’s not fun but it’s nice having clean and tidy rooms instead of dust on everything and grime. Seriously, my house never gets a thorough cleaning so this is LONG OVERDUE! I’m not mopping the floors though because my dad will just track his muddy boots over all the floors anyway. He doesn’t care about cleaning at all. I am always the one to bring it up and generally to do it as well. He’ll sort the trash and take care of that which is nice but that’s about it. He shovels too but I help him most times b/c I feel bad about him with his hip (needs replacement). Sorry, I know this sort of talk may not be good for you. Let me know if I should put a trigger warning on my posts regarding cleaning <3
no worries at all about it being a trigger! it’s actually not bothering me!
wow you’re on a role! i find my house often resembles how i’m feeling, if i feel stressed and chaotic, that often what my home looks like…but the funny thing is once it’s cleaned, i feel more relaxed and less chaotic…vicious circle.
Oh, I’m glad I wasn’t triggering you! Yeah, I am the same way. More crappy my mood the messier the place gets. It often takes shear will power/brute force to begin cleaning after a period of not doing any. But, like you, once things get cleaner and tidier I feel better. Thankfully I had some motivation but my energy is low after all my cleaning. Actually I didn’t start out with much energy but just felt like I needed to do it b/c I was sick of the dirt!
i hope you can take some time for rest in between. xo
Thanks. I’m resting now
Cleaning and tidying is tiring! How are you today?
that’s great! i’m pretty good, it was busy, had a bunch of stuff to do in town, also had to take the pooch to the vet for his shots, and nail clipping. he’s now on meds for his allergies. i’m glad to be home!
Glad you’re doing well.
What sort of allergies has Low Rider got? Skin allergy?
Being home after a busy day feels good. Is hubby still home?
thank you! he just scratches incessantly at his mouth. we don’t know if it’s food or environment related, and the cost to have allergy tests done is outrageous.. so we are just going with meds. here’s hoping it goes well as it’s a very low dose of prednisone…it can be a wicked drug and has made him really ill before, but at a much higher dose.
Aw, that’s too bad. Could it be his diet? Some people change their dog’s food and their allergies improve. Do you have to give it to him as a pill? or is it a cream?
we have gone through numerous foods, and found one that is the best, his allergies first presented as constant leaky anal glands (sorry gross) it was so bad they should have been removed, but then we found out the cost of the surgery and couldn’t do it. it’s a very risky surgery anyway. he has also been stuffed up as long as we’ve had him…now it’s the scratching too…we are pretty sure chicken is a problem so he gets none of that.
Oh, you and Low Rider are unlucky! I read expressing anal glands is a truly putrid smell. Bet it was not fun for either of you-pooch and vet & you. Poor dog sounds like me with my allergies to food and environmental stuff (rag weed, pollen, dust, dander, grass, perfume, etc.).
oh my gosh it’s the worst smell i think i’ve ever experienced…over and over again!
that sucks that you have bad allergies too, summer must be hard on you?
Summer is bad, yes. But I also find Spring and Fall are not perfect. Winter makes my nose run incessantly! The cold just doesn’t do nice things for me. Then again my nose runs pretty well all year outside it just varies in degree! I keep Kleenex in business
well than you need some shares in the Kleenex company!
kidding aside i’m sorry you suffer with those, it’s like having a full time bad cold. xo
Argh, it really is too. Allergies lower my energy levels. So I do my best to avoid what I can and minimize the impact of what I can’t avoid. I’m certainly not the ‘outdoorsy’ type!
i believe it.
Awesome! So happy to hear it – keep up the fabulous work!
Thank Jenny! I hope it will not be so much work if I do it more regularly. Once a season is not enough! LOL
